This one was harder than I expected it to be.
I remember making potato stamps in school and I thought it would be fun to re-visit that craft and make one this morning. Well, in school we must have had the proper tools. This morning all I had was a sharpie and a parring knife.
Word to the wise – potato flesh will ruin your sharpies. The wet texture is terrible for the pen tip. You’d think I might know that but no. Also for this sort of thing you need a special knife. Some sort of super carving gizmo. I have seen food carvers/stylists make some amazing things with parring knives and sharpies but without that sort of practiced skill, you are bound to end up with something extremely primitive. Like I did.
This was the first project I had to fight the urge to scrap and re-do. I didn’t though – what you see here it the first attempt. I went with it for two reasons – the main one being I wasn’t so sure I could do that much better on the 2nd go round but also because I promised myself that I wouldn’t stress over these hearts. I just want to follow my instincts and live with the results. That is what is so fun about it all. The results are what they are and that’s it.
So please enjoy my chili pepper looking potato stamp. I will

I’m glad you resisted the urge to redo… I like it.
