Day Eleven: A stitch in time

As ye sew, so shall ye rip. ~ Author Unknown

I love to cross stitch. One of my bestest friends in all the world taught me how. Her name is Katie and she lives in Buffalo with her husband and daughter and any number of zombies that drift through their lives on a daily basis. Katie is a much better cross stitcher than me. She takes pleasure in the details and I have always envied this about her.

With Katie in mind, I sketched this out on the side of a pattern I had already completed and stitched it in about 2 hours. This is much smaller than it looks. The hoop itself is only 3 & 1/2 inches across. The heart is about 2 inches by 2 inches. I could have gone bigger, I guess, but the challenge I chose  in the book was to work on a small scale.

I absolutely love this one. It’s so cute and it was fun to do. When I saw the skull cross stitch Noah Scalin created for Skull-a-Day, I knew I was going to have to do one, too. The idea that random thread can be put together to make a picture is unbelievably cool to me. I know I am a geek but I get thrilled every time I see the pattern appear.

Fantastic! I wish I had worked smaller the first time I tried cross-stitching. It took me all day to make mine!
